About Us



Hotel Kăi is centrally located in the heart of Singapore's historic Civic District. The hotel is housed in a beautifully restored conservation shophouse, re-birthed with a unique blend of history and modernity.


In the early 1900s, this shophouse was used to house immigrants and travellers from Hainan, China. Architecturally, these heritage pre-war shophouses were remarkably space efficient in its design even by modern standards. We created our Kăi Urban Cabins to take this efficient space planning to another level – all the luxurious trappings in a compact package. Kăi is about all the luxury you'd expect from a premium hotel – without the premium price tag!


Unusually high double-volume ceiling rooms framed with vintage timber slated windows, spectacular open sky terraces, fully equipped kitchenettes, private gardens, service apartments with private lift lobbies – our Suites series are made to wow.

Social Responsibility



We strongly believe in reducing our carbon footprint. All lights are energy efficient LEDs and all rooms are equipped with Mood-Enhanced® lightings. We invested in the most energy efficient air conditioning system money can buy (the Daikin VRV III system for those technically inclined).


Our water heaters are super energy efficient, not the power-hungry storage-tank type used by many hotels. We encourage both staff and guest to follow the 3R principles of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.


Hotel Kai is proud to be a Building & Construction Authority Green Mark Gold Plus certified building. We showcase works of art by budding local artists and all proceeds from the sale of these pieces go back to the artists themselves. Hotel Kai launched a 'Cycle Singapore!' initiative where Hotel guests and members of the public could loan a bicycle for a day for free. This is to encourage members of the community to cycle or walk to their destination instead of driving.
